Why such a low score!

I do not think this deserves that low of a score.

I think this beat is really nice. Like the past reviewer, yeah a bit too repetitive. Drums are excellent and I really like the bass. This is lounge music or something. Since the song has so few patterns....everything is repeating way too much....there really isn't much for me to say. 8/10 review and boost your score with a 5/5 vote.

Hi Valfan,

Well this is a interesting song. A neat style I have not heard. Its like classical mixed with hip hop and some house parts. I like your concept. Closer breakdown of what I thought of this song.

Good:
1) So the interesting mixtures of instruments as well as genre and emotions really makes this song stand out. Kudos
2) I'm enjoying the panning like drums....or maybe that's just a panning instrument I hear right at the start of the song and continues for a while.
3) 44 seconds in i like the piano and plucking strings taking control for a brief excerpt. 1:12 I also love them strings. Very cute and happy. Organ sounds good too.
4) I don't know what the vox is saying at 1:40. Is that even a voice? Sounds like it is saying "break" Anyway I like it.
5) 2:37 yeah sounds familiar but this is my favorite part. Great way to finish witht he cheesy fx.

Hmm:
1) I know everyone has their own opinion. In contrast to the previous reviewer, I think songs that change up alot are the good song. Keeps me listening instead of sleeping. Despite me saying that, I don't think your song is diverse enough. Your definitely closer to the style I enjoy that so many do not.

I liked the clarity in your instruments. Good mixing skills as well as coming up with some nice beats. 5/5 vote and 9/10 review.

Damn, what an awesome review!
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such detailed feedback! =)

There are no vocals btw.^^

Hey House music

Hi Zack,

I like dirty house too...french house still my favorite though. The song has the nice clubby feel typical in lots of house songs, but who can't love this stuff (biased opinion)

This will be a short review because the song is pretty short, doesn't progress much, and it's late where I live. Too bad you lost the song. You could have added a lot more stuff to this song to really bring out its potential. I like the drums a lot. Has almost a reggae feeling to it. Didn't like the techno vocals though. Is that voice a sample or your voice roboticized? I'm interested in what your future songs will be like. We need more of this kind of music on NG and less happy hardcore. 9/10 review and despite a unfinished song I'll still give you a 5/5 vote.

Bye for now

DJ-NOSEBLEED responds:

Thanks for the thoughtful review, Music-story.
This is actually inspired a bit by French house music, so a bit of that in theree as well :] .
The voice is made with the speech synthesizer in Fruity. I thought it added a nice touch, but everyone can have his/her own opinion.
Thanks again for the review!

Hey Doobie,

So I forgot what number your on for Zasyyt. Is this # 3? Well I notice the similar instrument. More in detail:

Good:
1) Strange mixes of instruments does bring the originality out. All the space sounds are pretty.
2) 3:10 some new stuff. I don't know if it is your bass, but there is some nice fuzziness on one of the lower notes. Always seems to come from the left speaker.
3) Climax build around 5:10ish was weird. What kind of drum is that? Sounds like bunch of kick explosions. Interesting instrument.
4) Choir ahh at end was neat.

Hmm:
1) You might want to change up the flute composition. Quite similar to your other Zasyyt songs.
2) May need to fix the detune. Some parts don't sound in key.
3) Little bit of a long song. One of your longest perhaps?

You need more of those peaceful pads. The beginning instruments were very soothing. Kick may have not fit in well at some parts because it had some sub like kick. Too mean for a space like happy song. Your bass sounded a bit techno sounding which really made the instruments a strange mix together. When I say strange it means unique. The repetitiveness was a bit excessive, but overall if you were going for some space adventure than good job. Oddly enough, the flute sounds like a piccolo. 9/10 rev. and 5/5 vote. Your most creative song yet.

Bye for now

Review

I agree with the past review. The beginning was a bit strange. It got pretty good as the song progressed. Here is my break down.

Good:

1) 18 secs in, I really like this happy part. It's almost like some radio edit or something. The filters you chose were nice and airy here.

2) 45 sec in, a great transition. Right into the bass. This sounds a bit epic....good title too.

3) For some reason I'm feeling gunstar heroes sega genesis music here. I loved that game so I suppose I would love this song too. That lead high pitch instrument is almost the exact replica of the instrument in gunstar heroes.

4) The drums were interesting. I notice a lot of NG dnb artists use that same fruity loops dnb drum loop. It is refreshing to here some new drum patterns.

5) Nice filter modulations and delay on the bass.

Hmm:
1) Besides the beginning, there were a few ackward parts. Example: 1:19 the transition was a bit too sudden. Maybe because the bass was such a big presence in this song that taking it away too quickly made a weird moment. 2:13 Okay, so I see your doing some crazy panning drums. I like it, but I think different drums might have been better....pattern good.....drum sound not so good.

2) This is going to be a issue for the both of us. I'm the one that likes continually changing music while you like the more repetitive/return to a similar beat. I think this song is a nice adventure music, but it is like a video game loop therefore a bit repetitive for me. My opinion of course. Continue with your style.

I liked this song. Too bad not many ppl get to hear it. I like this tempo of music....too many ppl on NG like fast music so I suppose this song may never reach top 5 though I do think it deserves it compared to the top 5 songs I generally here. 5/5 vote and 9/10 review.

No idea what conjure ones and royksopp's is.

DukeLukeProd responds:

Hey,
I clearly have to work on my song structures, I probably think too much instead of trying to feel what's right. Ah yes and remember not to use sidechaining like I did here - trigger: Kick, target:snare

Good
1) The filters are from the free "Izotope Vinyl" lowfi plugin, go check it out ;)

3) I've never heard of gunstar heroes but being on sega genesis it probably sounds awesome. Pure coincidence that I made the same sound :D

4) Not too long ago I despised music with loops in general because it's so much cheaper than programming drums on your own. But recently I've noticed how much the latter actually slowed me down, thus I threw in a few loops and suddenly producing was a lot more fun. Yet the only kinds of loops I'll ever use are hihats and percs, I want to retain the freedom of placing my kicks and snares where I want them.
Although I must say that the drumpattern in this track is anything but new, just different samples ;)

Hmm
1) I know what you mean, it makes the track seem like a megamix instead of a single piece.
2:13 Yeah I'm a bongo/conga fetishist, I've to have them everywhere, no matter if appropriate or not ^^

2) You're much better at doing your own thing, I'm the more commercial-influenced producer.

Music-portals hardly ever have objective rankings, but that's just how it is, the best an artist can hope for are helpful comments like yours, thanks mate!

I think you'd enjoy Röyksopp, very varied style, very different. Conjure One might be too relaxed for your taste.

Cheers!

I love the original. This one is nice too

Hey Viz,

When I first heard this song on you tube a while back, I'm like how does happy hardcore rave work so well. A lot of raves on youtube are the serious dark kind and way too depressing to hear. The only problem with the original and I guess naturally yours is the lyrics. Those lyrics are very poor. Anyway, on to your song.

Good:
1) Well for a remix, you kept the best composition in. Very catchy beat. Sounds like you used more brighter happy instruments. More happy is generally a good thing for me.
2) Well you obviously modified the voice. The lyrics as I said were cheesy enough but the voice was pretty lame in the original too. Yours isn't as dorky sounding....though I still think the voice is cheesy. Anyway you made a improvement on the voice so that's a good thing
3) I don't know if you used a distortion plugin. Sounds like you did. I'm going to assume you used distortion. I thought you put a good amount on that party horn sound.
4) Time of 1:36 to 1:38. This sounds like something I never heard in the original. "Bass" It caught me off guard. Music should be a surprise to listeners without disrupting the flow of the song and I guess despite only a very small section along with 2:04 to 2:06...a surprise is a surprise.

Change:
1) When the voice comes in there is this weird popping sound. It disappears or is masked well when more instruments come in...just pointing that out.
2) Maybe a bit more differences in drums might have helped. The drums don't seem much different from the original

Okay, so you know I can't give a 10 on remixes. I'd give a 10 if you were the original maker. This song and warriors of love are probably my two favorite happy hardcore songs. Great remix so I'll give you a 9/10 and 5/5 vote.

Bye for now

DJ-VIZ responds:

Thanks for the review man, long time no talk... I know the vox are a bit cheesy, but without em its not the same :] ... Anyway I love using those mini vocals, if you ever want the zip I have like a thousand, let me know! Thanks for the reviews....yours are always appreciated!

Review time

Hey Auecs,

I think it is funny how you say give 30 seconds to review. I can give you a 30 second review, but that would be a one liner wouldn't it. See, I already took longer than 30 seconds to right this paragraph. I'll go more in depth in my review.

Good:
1) Haha The country bumpkin. What the heck is that. Country pumpkin maybe? Anyway, for only a very short lyric section, along with some vocals of laughing in the middle of the song made me laugh.
2) The beginning of the song was really cool. It was almost professional sounding. That crazy bass was awesome.
3) Love the fx splashes and the unique drums. I like that tingy drum sound.
4) 1:59 the alien sound comes in. I enjoyed that sound too.
5) This song has soo much modulation to the instruments. Makes everything very busy. I like it.

Hmm:
1) So the beginning part is over and come 50 seconds in, that bass pattern ain't so hot anymore.
2) Yeah, house should be this repetitive, but than I'm not a big fan of repetitiveness. Maybe I don't fit in any genre on NG. Oh well
3) Settle down on the distortion at some parts. I like busy, but sometimes the distortion gets soo heavy everything becomes mushy sounding.
4) 3:30 yeah some neat bass pattern, but for some reason I sense you just put in this section from 3:30 to the end just as a filler....just to make the song longer than it really should be. It didn't really progressive into anything.

To conclude, your electro style is crazy. Keep up the great work. Make some french house. I like french house the best along with space house. :) 5/5 vote and 9/10 review.

"You support the house genre, I support the house genre, together NG house musicians will get on top 5 more often. House music always"

Hey review

Wow, 50 patterns. It looks like the song is going to be diverse. Here is what I think.

Good:
1) So first off, thankyou for not making this strictly classical...eg not all classical instruments. Might as well take advantage of the electronic era to make a classical piece more modern.
2) I like the reverb and delay placed on the pianos. Very heavenly sounding. The composition sounds rather catchy and it isn't all sorrowful sounding. I like more of the brighter types of classical music...just my opinion.
3) 40 seconds in I'm sensing some nintendo game music. I enjoy it. Brings the childish play theme to this song.
4) Interesting use of drums. Are those dnb drums?

Hmm:
1) Well there is a slight bit of clipping in the piano. Maybe that was intentional?
2) Despite you using 50+ patterns (I didn't count but I'll trust that you did use more than 50 patterns) I still felt the song was not diverse enough. After the whole nintendo sound section it returns back to the similar piano section.

I kinda liked this unique classical experience. Maybe it is a new beginning to classical music? :)
5/5 vote and 9/10 review. If you take a listen to my new song....system override journey it has a lot of musical patterns...if that's your thing....assuming it is since you like to use a lot of patterns yourself.

Review

Hey Corey,
Well we both submitted long songs close together. I have no idea what spedzuarg means. Anyway, here is what I thought.

Good:
1)I I think your trying to portray a alien type feel right. Lots of alien like sounds and I feel like there is some kind of army getting prepared. Nice job.
2) Lots of filter changes or phaser you used. Does add a bit to the diversity.
3) The kick has some nice rev to it. Really deep and loud which I like.
4) 3:26 I like that that lead instrument. It doesn't last long though. I think it reoccurs in previous parts too and after. It took me a while to fully enjoy the sound.
5) Fx sounds are neato. Panning is good. Nuff said
6) Some parts I like the bass pattern. Surprisingly I can hear it with everything going.

Hmm:
1) For the most part your mixing is good. However, I think one of your instruments (the one that starts at 48 seconds) is a little too loud. Clipping is kept to very minimal so good mastering too.

2) You already warned of this song being repetitive. Mostly all my reviews I talk about lack of diversity. I just like lots of diversity, but this is only a opinion.
3) Despite you using the fairly typical alien like sounds, I have a feeling you could have worked more on making better sounding instruments. They seem rather basic.

Overall, I felt some story was going on. That is always a awesome thing to me. I just realized the part where you quoted "that certain part of the male body". What are you talking about here? Anyway, like I said, make the song a little bit more diverse. For a 8 minute song, it is very tough to maintain the listeners attention. Instruments might need some revamping too. I know how hard it is to make a 8 minute song so kudos to you for putting in the a strong amount of effort. 5/5 vote and 9/10 review.

Bye for now

Tykwa responds:

Thanks for the review, I'm acually slightly still working on this, The whole thing about the male body was just a line, kind of like that commercial for Extends, only a joke. Otherwise ill try and master this a tiny bit more, I fell asleep last night working on this, im really happy that I have somthing good for once, and long to boot, thanks again. peace.

Review

Hi Alex,

Back to school for a lot of us. More reading and less music now right. :) I looked over some of the previous reviews and I have to agree with darksporks that this is a bit too happy to fit the title of the song well. Something that seems to be bothering me is your response to TaichuKaisen's review. What do you mean you ran out of samples? Any music program has a infinite supply of samples. You just make them or modify samples any which way you want. Anyway, here is what I thought of your song.

Good:
1) Has a slight jumpy happy feel to it. Could almost be jumpstyle music if you had a harder kick and more meaner bass.
2) Well, you managed to make a catchy beat sound good without a lot of drums. Only the kick I think you have here.
3) Looks like your lead instrument has just about the right amount of reverb to it.

Future:
1) So I don't know your style of trance but if your working towards a more serious form of trance rather than this happy somewhat cheesy trance then try this. For your bass use a sine wave. Using a sub bass or aggressive form of a bass (fast attack) works well too. The human ear loves distorted sounds so maybe put a distortion plugin on the bass. EQ can be intensified around the 200 Hz range. Sub bass maybe around the 100 Hz range. If you have a "bandpass filter" use that. It basically intensifies a certain range of frequencies keeping all frequencies outside that range unchanged which is more faster to use versus EQ. For your lead, instruments with delay are great sounding. Not only does it bring more of a fat sound but it adds a interesting panning feature. I prefer stereo delay rather than mono delay so that panning becomes more obvious. Oh, if you like the loud pounding snappy sounds set your synthesizer to "mono" and "unison". This will make it so all your "voices" will come out together. This will make your kicks sound snappy. These are just guidelines, but the best advice I can give you is do whatever sounds good to your ears.

2) Well the beat doesn't really change at all. Good thing this is a short song. Maybe make your next song longer and change up more. Put more instruments too.

So good luck with your future stuff. If your in school, good luck with that too. Hope to hear more from you. 5/5 vote and 9/10 rev.

Bye for now
